Biden on Releasing Records: “A Campaign is No Time to Look Into a Candidate’s Past”

(Wilmington, DE) – As calls increase for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to release his Senate records held at the University of Delaware, the seasoned politician offered an interesting rationale why that’s just not going to happen.

“A campaign is no time to look into a candidate’s past,” Biden said Friday. “Who remembers the past anyway? Certainly not me.”

Republicans Pounce

Speaking with MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski, Biden worried that his records may contain information that would be intentionally misconstrued by his political opponents.

“For example they’ll take the time I orchestrated the sale of that waterboarding equipment to Myanmar, and somehow try to spin it as a bad thing.”

Media Satisfied

Pundits across the political spectrum rushed to defend Biden’s reluctance to have anyone look into any of his previous dealings.

“Mika Brzezinski should be ashamed of herself for even bringing such a thing up,” conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin wrote in the Washington Post.
